BEING a man of the cloth usually signifies warm involvement with the community and on Thursday night one candidate saw how popular he was.
David Clues, the Reverend at St Mary's Church on Neasden, Willesden, topped the votes in the Dudden Hill ward to become one of the three Liberal Democrat councillors to have ousted their Labour counterparts.
The popular vicar told the Times he is ready to take on his new found role with gusto, he said: "I don't think being a vicar or a councillor are mutually exclusive, I work in the community now so I think I'll do well. Body and soul and all that!"
Cllr Clues was one of the first supporters of our 'Save the Market' when it was launched last year.
He came down to the site and expressed his concerns for the community if the market was allowed to close. Given his new found role, he has pledged to fight for the market's future.
"I will be talking to my colleagues and fight to save the market," he said.
"This is an excellent result in Dudden Hill and across Brent.
